DENVER (AP) – Colorado is once again trying to win federal money for school reforms.
The U.S. Department of Education said Wednesday that Colorado is among seven states that have submitted applications in the third round of the Race to the Top program.
Winning states will win grants from a $200 million fund based on the size of their population.
This time, the education department is looking for ideas to help children learn science, technology, engineering and mathematics
Colorado is competing against Arizona, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
Winners will be announced in late December.
