DU PIONEERS HOCKEY CONTEST: Enter for the chance to win a pair of DU Hockey tickets! (Enter To Win)

DENVER (CBS4) – There will soon be a smartphone application to help drivers deal with Interstate 70 traffic jams in the high country.

The Colorado Department of Transportation will have the app ready for testing next summer. It will concentrate on I-70 through the mountain corridor.

The app will be funded by advertising — not tax money.

My Droid already does this very well with the stock navigation GPS app from VZ. It shows green yellow or red on the map depending on prevailing traffic.

How many accidents will becaused by people trying to use the app while driving?
