Early Snow Means Early Opening For Snowmass

SNOWMASS VILLAGE, Colo. (AP) — Snowmass ski resort is opening five days early because of heavy snow over the past month.

The resort is opening Nov. 19 with more than 160 acres open to skiers.

Breckenridge opened Friday, celebrating its 50th anniversary with free cupcakes for the first 1,111 guests.

Among other Colorado resorts, Loveland, Arapahoe Basin, Wolf Creek, Copper Mountain and Keystone are already open. Winter Park plans to open Saturday.
