Teens Suspected Of Running Drug Lab Near School Arrested

BROOMFIELD, Colo. (CBS4)- Two brothers suspected of running a drug lab near an elementary school were arrested Thursday. Police began their investigation with an attempted shoplifting call.

Kyle Clouse, 18, and his 16-year-old brother were taken into custody and later released pending charges.

The arrests happened after police were called to an attempted shoplifting at about 10:10 a.m. Thursday at King Soopers, 12167 Sheridan Blvd. Officers said Clouse and his brother were taking kitchen utensils to manufacture Dimethyltryptamine, commonly known as DMT.

DMT is a hallucinogen typically used to lace marijuana. When DMT is inhaled or consumed its subjective effects can range from short-lived milder psychedelic states to powerful experiences.

Police in Broomfield then went to a home in the 200 block of Flint Way near Emerald Elementary School. The entire block was cordoned off to traffic during the investigation by the North Metro Drug Task Force Thursday afternoon.

Firefighters were called to participate in the investigation as part of the special decontamination unit that discovered hazardous materials. Solvents were found in the home, including flammable camping fuel.

No finished product was located in the home.
