Suspect Hurts Denver Police Officer, Runs Off

DENVER (CBS4) - Police on Monday were looking for a suspect who hurt a police officer after a traffic stop and then ran off.

The crime happened late Monday morning near 29th and Downing Street.

When the officer ran the Peter Edward VanVolkinburg's name through the police database, she found out he was wanted on an outstanding warrant.

VanVolkinburg, 32, resisted arrest and broke the officer's hand. He ran off with one of the officer's handcuffs still on his arm, according to police.

VanVolkinburg was described as being a white man who is 5-foot-6. He was wearing a blue and white checkered shirt.

Anyone who sees VanVolkinburg is asked to call 9-1-1.
