Couple Accused Of Illegally Dumping Chemicals

DENVER (CBS4) - A man and woman have been indicted for leaving dangerous chemicals on a street in northeast Denver.

Drums of dry cleaning chemicals were found in a tractor trailer in the 3700 block on Nome Street. Neighbors reported a strange odor in the area.

The suspects, June Ho Choi and Hyun S. Pak, face felony charges of illegally disposing of hazardous chemicals. They were owners of a company called Continental Fabric Care.

"Unfortunately, it's more common than you think," Attorney General's office spokesman Mike Saccone said. "Businesses don't want to go through the process of properly disposing of chemicals."

Convictions could bring lengthy prison sentences and as much as $500,000 in fines.
