SUPERIOR, Colo. (CBS4) – The quick action of a good samaritan saved two young women in a serious car crash this week.
Rudy Bernard saw an SUV roll on the Boulder Turnpike near the Louisville and Superior exits late Wednesday night. He decided to stop his car and make sure everyone was all right.
He found two young women inside and helped them.
“I was able to reach over and grab the top of their door and pull it open to let them out,” he said. “They were standing on the seats trying to crawl out.”
Just minutes later, an RTD bus slammed into the SUV. The driver was the only person on the bus at the time.
“If you see people in trouble you need to help them, you know?” he said. “If you’re able to help them, help them.”
Everyone involved in the wrecks escaped with nothing more than cuts and bruises.
Investigators with the Colorado State Patrol said the women Bernard helped were Holly Hunt, 19, of Superior, and a 21-year-old Broomfield woman.
