Downed Branches Still An Issue With Another Storm Coming

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (CBS4) - Last week's storm knocked out power to thousands of homes and the Front Range could see a repeat Wednesday.

Plenty of people are still cleaning up after last week's storm. There are piles of branches all across Fort Collins, which city crews are working to haul away.

Now, with another storm moving in, there are two issues -- the storm could bring down more branches -- and the tree removal crews are also the snow removal crews.

Fort Collins has about 70 workers using chain saws to cut fallen tree limbs into smaller pieces so the heavy equipment can come by and load them into trucks. Homeowners across town have hauled branches to the street and the streets department has divided the city into four zones.

The plan is over the next four weeks to clear each of those zones. Now, with snow on the way, the schedule may be tough to keep. The people in charge of the plan say they're meeting Tuesday to strategize. They have to make sure the people working so hard to clear branches are also ready to hop into their snow plows.

Saturday was intended to be a catch up day for branches, but the city says if there's snow Saturday, that'll be another challenge.
