GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) – Occidental Petroleum Corp. says two Monument Well Service employees on the way to a work location in Garfield County have died in a vehicle accident.
The company says the workers’ vehicle passed through a guard shack operated by Occidental Petroleum around 5 a.m. Monday, but they failed to report to their work location. A search was launched, and their vehicle was found around 11 a.m. in a ravine.
Garfield County coroner’s officials identified the workers as Andrew Marquez and Travis Oropeza, both age 24.
State Patrol Trooper Nate Reid tells KREX-TV the worker’s truck rolled down a 1,000 foot embankment.
The State Patrol says the driver was wearing a seat belt, but the passenger was not. It wasn’t immediately clear who was driving.
