ARVADA, Colo. (CBS4) – This weekend a local group is doing its part to make sure military families in need have enough to eat this Thanksgiving.
The nonprofit group Homefront Heroes is collecting non-perishable food donations to give to military families.
All weekend volunteers will be staked out at the King of Glory Lutheran Church at 58th and Kipling in Arvada. Their goal is to try to fill an entire Mayflower moving van with food and cash.
An organizer calls it “an American tragedy” that some families of active duty military are having a hard time making ends meet.
Volunteers will be out from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday. They’re asking people to stop by and give what they can.
