Travel Companies Want Online Lawsuit Dismissed
BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. (AP) -- Online travel companies sued by the town of Breckenridge over unpaid taxes are moving to have the lawsuit dismissed, saying they do not owe the town anything.
According to the Summit Daily News, attorneys for the travel companies say the online businesses do not owe the taxes under town codes because they are not licensed or doing business in Breckenridge and because they don't own the rooms they are reselling.
The town of Breckenridge filed the lawsuit in July against companies including Expedia, Hotwire, Orbitz, Hotels.com, Priceline and Travelocity.
