Humane Society Seizes 57 Animals
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) -- The owner of a Colorado Springs animal rescue business is facing 57 counts of misdemeanor animal cruelty after the animals were seized by the Humane Society.
Humane Society officials say the animals were malnourished and living in their own waste.
Authorities tell the Colorado Springs Gazette that they found malnourished ferrets, rabbits, rats and hedgehogs going without proper medical care.
Jessica Elrod says many of the animals that were taken were under her medical care and were in good condition.
