Father Of NYC Plotter Pleads Guilty To Visa Charge

NEW YORK (AP) -- The father of a man who admitted plotting to bomb New York City subways has pleaded guilty to visa fraud charges.

Mohammed Wali Zazi entered the plea Friday in federal court in Brooklyn.

Zazi is the father of Najibullah Zazi. His son pleaded guilty to terror charges in a foiled 2009 plot to attack the subways with two friends after they received al-Qaida training.

The elder Zazi was convicted in July in a separate case in Brooklyn accusing him of destroying evidence and lying about the terror plot.

The additional charges accused him of lying on immigration papers by saying his nephew was his son.

Zazi, who lives in Colorado, is out on bail awaiting sentencing on Dec. 2. He faces up to 40 years in prison.
