Mother Pleads Guilty To Abandoning Baby In Casino Parking Garage

CENTRAL CITY, Colo. (CBS4)- The mother who abandoned her baby inside a car parked in a casino parking garage has pleaded guilty to a child abuse charge.

Louiesa West pleaded guilty to negligent child abuse in Gilpin County Court on Wednesday afternoon. She left her 9-month-old baby inside a car at the Century Casino parking garage on Friday night.

A driver spotted the baby and told casino managers who called police.

West told police she had just gone inside the casino to use the restroom, but investigators said the baby was alone in the car for an hour.

Phillip Perri was with West at the time. He faces a judge on a child abuse charge later this month. Sentencing for West is scheduled for Dec. 21.

The baby is being cared for by relatives.
