DENVER (CBS4) - A former Arizona State University swimmer is dead after drowning in a pool on the university campus.

James Rigg, 22, is from Niwot. Rigg and a male friend jumped a fence early Monday morning at an aquatic complex. They had a contest to see who could swim underwater the fastest. The other man noticed Rigg at the bottom of the pool and started CPR, but Rigg did not survive.

Authorities suspect alcohol was involved.
