2 Denver-Area Counties Get Special Drug Court
CENTENNIAL, Colo. (AP) -- The district court for two Denver-area counties has set up a program for drug offenders designed to reduce repeat offenses while keeping the community safe.
The 18th Judicial District, which includes Arapahoe and Douglas counties, said Thursday the program will be called the Recovery Court.
It's one of 60 courts in 17 of Colorado judicial districts intended to address specific problems. Other courts deal with drug use, drunken driving, mental health problems, veteran trauma, truancy and other issues.
The 18th Judicial District also includes Elbert and Lincoln counties.
Colorado has 22 judicial districts.
