Strong Winds Cause Issues On Eastern Plains
BURLINGTON, Colo. (CBS4) - Strong winds were causing problems on Colorado's Eastern Plains Thursday afternoon. They are associated with a Pacific storm system that's slowly overtaking the western half of the United States.
CBS4's Dave Aguilera reported that the winds could have regular gusts of as much as 40 to 50 mph.
They were so strong that officials were forced to close Interstate 70 near the Kansas border early in the afternoon. The closure stretched from Burlington to the Kansas border and lasted for about 3 hours. One CBS4 YouReporter clocked the winds at 65 mph in the area.
The fire danger is also concern with the winds.
