Commerce City Candidate Accused Of Trying To Avoid DUI Arrest

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (AP) - Adams County authorities say a state investigator running for city council in Commerce City tried to avoid a DUI arrest by using his badge.

Joe Sandoval is a former Commerce City police sergeant who now works as a criminal investigator for the Colorado Department of Revenue Gaming Division.

Sandoval flashed his badge when he was asked for his license. Sandoval was issued a summons on a DUI charge that requires him to appear in court in 30 days.

The Department of Revenue refused comment.
