Colorado Cuts Energy Subsidies
DENVER (AP) - A 35 percent decrease in federal funding for Low-income Energy Assistance could hurt 17,000 people in Colorado.
The benefits provide assistance to help low-income families with their heating bills, but are not intended to pay the entire bill. Under the new rules, a family of four must make less than $2,800 a month to qualify.
According to KRDO-TV, the Colorado Department of Human Services sent letters to households last week that will not qualify for assistance this year.
