Avs Get A Little Golf In Before Season Opener

CASTLE PINES NORTH, Colo. (CBS4) - Members of the Colorado Avalanche spent the day Monday raising money for the team's charity fund.

While the swings of forward Matt Duchene and other players were impressive at The Ridge at Castle Pines North, many fans are getting excited over how impressive the team looked in their final preseason game over the weekend against the Los Angeles Kings.

"Our last game against L.A. in Vegas, it was basically a regular season game," Duchene told CBS4 at the golf course. "They had their full lineup and we had our full lineup. It was one of the best games I've seen this team play in the the 2 years I've been here -- the third now -- and it was awesome."

The Avalanche open their season Saturday night at home against the Detroit Red Wings.

Monday's Colorado Avalanche Charity Golf Classic event raised $80,000 for the Colorado Avalanche Charity Fund.

"Today was yet another wonderful event thanks to all of the participants, sponsors and fans," Kroenke Sports & Entertainment Deb Dowling-Canino said in a prepared statement. "Everyone had a great time and more importantly supported a terrific cause."
