Fountain Woman Gets $53,000 Water Bill
FOUNTAIN, Colo. (CBS4) - A woman near Colorado Springs got a gusher of a water bill -- $53,000.
Lisa Mannion of Fountain received the bill which said she used eight million gallons. Mannion said her husband searched the Internet for that amount and found it's more than enough water to fill a pool the size of a football field.
"The only thing I can think of is a software glitch … something tripped something in the software and it just spit it out," Mannion said. "So I'm pretty sure that's what happened."
The Fountain Utilities Department said there was obviously an error by the automated meter reading system.
