Colorado Bartender To Compete Against Nation’s Best

DENVER (CBS4) – A Colorado man has won the chance to compete against bartenders of the U.S. and possibly the nations of the world.

Jeff Schmidt won the Denver Regional Draught Master competition held on Saturday at Fado’s in LoDo. The event was sponsored by Stella Artois. Competitors from around the region showcased Stella Artois’ signature nine-step pouring ritual, designed to give beer drinkers the best taste and experience.

Schmidt will be headed to the U.S. finals in Washington, D.C. to vie for the chance to move on to the global finals in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

“At the world finals participants from more than 28 countries will again demonstrate their beer-pouring expertise before a panel of distinguished judges, who will carefully examine each and every phase of the 9-Step Pouring Ritual,” Stella Artois said in a statement.

The Draught Master crowned at the global competition will visit more than 20 different countries as a Stella Artois brand ambassador.

As this article is about me I’d just like to correct a small detail. I am from Madison, Wisconsin. I flew out to Denver for the competition. No disrespect to Colorado but I’m a proud Sconnie!
