Thousands Remember Slain Teen's Message Of Love

BAILEY, Colo. (CBS4) - Much of the community of Bailey turned out Sunday to honor Emily Keyes, the 16-year-old junior killed by a gunman at Platte Canyon High School in 2006.

Since the crime thousands have honored Keyes' life on or near the anniversary of her death -- Sept. 27. The memorial activities started with a motorcycle ride from Columbine High School to Platte Canyon.

There was also a 5K run in Bailey.

The events raise money for the I Luv U Guys Foundation. Those were the final words Keyes texted her parents before she died.

The goal of the foundation is to "restore and protect the joy of youth" and to push for student and school safety.

The gunman took six girls hostage at the school. He shot Keyes then shot and killed himself.
