DENVER (AP) – A Bozeman, Mont., man in Denver to watch the mixed martial arts fights died when a vehicle struck him as he tried crossing Interstate 25.
The Denver coroner’s office identified the man as 25-year-old Dustin Jefferson. Police spokesman Lt. Matt Murray says officers were responding to a report of a pedestrian early Sunday on the interstate near the Pepsi Center when the man crossed into southbound lanes of traffic.
The vehicle that struck Jefferson did not stop. Murray says officers were reviewing surveillance video and collecting evidence at the scene.
The coroner’s office says it appears Jefferson was on his way back to his hotel following the fights Saturday night.
