Ellicott School Board Accepts Member's Resignation
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - The Ellicott School District 22 board has voted unanimously to accept the resignation of its treasurer, who is accused of sending sexual text messages to her son's 14-year-old friend.
Stefanie Dickinson was arrested this month on suspicion of Internet luring of a child. The 37-year-old is due in court Wednesday to be advised of the charge.
The Gazette reports Dickinson was not at the school board meeting Friday when members accepted her resignation, but she had submitted a resignation letter. The board did not read the letter aloud. The Gazette reports Dickinson hasn't returned phone messages seeking comment.
Dickinson had been fighting a recall effort targeting her and board Vice President Gary Lake. The county clerk's office says the recall election Nov. 1 will continue despite Dickinson's resignation.
