CU-Peace Corps Program Combines Service, Degree

BOULDER, Colo. (AP) - A new program at the University of Colorado allows students to serve in the Peace Corps and also earn a master's in business administration, education, environmental studies or geography.

Peter Simons of the Institute for Ethical and Civic Engagement at CU says the Boulder campus is joining about 90 other U.S. schools offering similar programs.

The Daily Camera reports that under CU's new master's international program, enrolled students will do one year of graduate work, deploy for two years of Peace Corps service and return to CU to complete the second year required for their master's degrees.

CU has 117 alumni serving as Peace Corps volunteers this year, ranking it first in the country
