‘Wish For Wheels’ Hands Out Bike At MacElwain Elementary

DENVER (CBS4) – Some children in Denver are showing off their new wheels.

On Tuesday volunteers from Wish For Wheels handed out 75 bikes to the students at Denver’s MacElwain Eementary.

The organization gives bikes and helmets to children in low income neighborhoods. The children enjoy it and the organization’s founder, Brad Appel, says it’s a great way to keep them active.

“I remember my first bike. I know what it feels like to get a brand new bike. I want every kid to know what it’s like to get a brand new bike,” Appel said.

Wish For Wheels has given away 2,500 bikes since 2004. They rely on donations to buy the bikes.
