Buff Lockridge Honored For Service

BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4)- University of Colorado running back Brian Lockridge was awarded the Good Works Team selected by the Allstate Insurance Company. The honor goes to those dedicated to serving the community.

Lockridge taught himself how to play the piano. The CU Buffs senior plays twice a week during lunch for patients at Boulder Community Hospital.

He also prepares meals for the homeless and tutors students.

"I moved out of the house when I was 15, 16 years old. Like I said, it took a community to raise me. I think being a part of that I felt obligated to give back and be a part of what people gave me. It changed my life tremendously from where I came from to where I am now and I expect to do the same," said Lockridge.

Lockridge is one of 22 college football players named to the 2010 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team. The players were selected by a special committee from 108 nominations submitted by colleges and universities across the country.
