Deceased Man's Co-Worker Reacts To Bizarre Chain Of Events Involving Friend's Body

DENVER (CBS4)- Friends and family of Jeff Jarrett are wondering if he could have been saved before he died.

Jarrett, 43, was taken out for a night on the town by his friends, Robert Young and Mark Rubinson. They used Jarrett's credit cards to pay for the visits to bars and a strip club. The bizarre twist- Jarrett was dead.

Before his death, Jarrett worked in a real estate office for more than a decade. His co-worker, Dale Carroll, shared the office with Jarrett.

"It was so unbelievable you're like, that couldn't of really happened," said Carroll.

Carroll said Jarrett's roommate, Young, 43, told neighbors that Jarrett was suffering from extreme pain but didn't call 911. Instead, he left for the bar.

"It just seems like, why didn't someone call 911. That would have been the thing to do," said Carroll.

According to police records, Young and Rubinson, 25, took Jarrett's body on a ride across town. Around 11 p.m. on Aug. 27, Young and Rubinson leave Sam's Number 3 in Aurora. They take Jarrett's body, placed in the back of the car, to Teddy T's bar. Jarrett's credit cards are used to buy rounds of drinks.

The pair then drive back to the diner before going back to Jarrett's home where they placed his body back in bed.

"To hear that they made a mockery of his death and drove him around like the movie "Weekend at Bernie's," it's hard to get your head around that," said Carroll.

But the night wasn't over. Using Jarrett's ATM card, Young and Rubinson withdraw $400 and spend the rest of the night at Shotgun Willie's in Denver.

They notified police about their friend only after the club closed. Police records show Jarrett was dead by the time he had been taken to Teddy T's. His cause of death has not been determined.

Young and Rubinson have been charged with abuse of a corpse and felony theft. They have been released from jail on bond.
