Immigrant Rights Group Seeks To Expand

DURANGO, Colo. (AP) - An immigrant resource and advocacy organization that wants to expand its reach has split from its parent organization in Durango.

Companeros director Nicole Mosher says going independent from the San Juan Citizens Alliance will allow the organization to pursue more funding opportunities to meet a growing need for a resource center for immigrants in the area.

The San Juan Citizens Alliance focuses on social, economic and environmental justice in the San Juan Basin.

According to the Durango Herald, some immigrants who don't have the financial stability to stick with the alliance aren't getting the help they need.
