Officials: Listeria-Tainted Cantaloupe Came From Rocky Ford
DENVER (CBS4) - Colorado health officials say tainted cantaloupe may be to blame for a listeria outbreak that's killed at least one person.
Officials believe the cantaloupe are from the Rocky Ford growing region.
Twelve patients with confirmed cases of the gastrointestinal infection all ate cantaloupe with nine of those people in Colorado.
There have also been suspected cases in Texas and Nebraska. Officials haven't yet traced where the possibly tainted melons were sold.
Those most likely to get sick from listeria include people over the age of 60, pregnant women, and people with weakened immune systems.
