Aurora Officer Accused Of Sex Assault Resigns
AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) - A police officer from Aurora accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl has resigned.
Michael Mangino allegedly had the girl take naked pictures of herself with his own cell phone after he arrested her. He had been placed on administrative leave in March and faces multiple charges in Adams County.
"I am relieved that Mr. Mangino is no longer a police officer in this agency," Aurora police chief Daniel Oates said in a prepared statement. "The APD will continue to assist the District Attorney in a vigorous prosecution of the charges against him."
Mangino was a veteran officer who worked as a DARE instructor in several elementary schools.
