Boyfriend Jailed After Child Abuse Death

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4) - A 2-year-old girl who was rushed to the hospital with severe injuries earlier this week has died, and her mother's boyfriend is in jail.

Dolci Gryshayeva was taken off life support Friday evening. Police believe she died from abuse.

Police responded to a 911 call of a child not breathing on Wednesday at an apartment complex on the 700 block of Vance Street in Lakewood.

Keith Ruiz, 24, was allegedly the only other person inside the apartment. He is expected to be charged with child abuse resulting in death and is in custody at the Jefferson County Jail.

Lakewood police had the apartment shut down on Saturday as they executed a search warrant in the case.

Police say the child sustained traumatic injuries.

Her mother, Anaystasia Gryshayeva, arrived back at the apartment building after the child had been taken to the hospital.

Lakewood police say they are taking the case personally.

"We have family members. We have children. When a small, very innocent person is deceased it's very emotional for us," said police spokesman Mitchell Harper.

According to online posts, the child's father died almost a year ago.

A Facebook page has been set up as a memorial for the child. On it it says a candlelight vigil is planned for Wednesday evening.
