Unemployed Denverite Eager To Hear Of Obama's Jobs Plan

DENVER (CBS4) - A Denver man is hoping to hear of some good news on the jobs front in the president's speech to Congress Thursday night.

"I need to know that there's going to be some sort of positive growth in not just my industry, but any industry," Eric Grimes told CBS4.

Grimes was working as an advertising and marketing account management specialist until just recently. Right before he lost his job he and his family bought a new home.

What will he be looking for President Barack Obama to say in the speech on the economy? He said he wants short term strategies that will help him tomorrow in his job search and long term strategies so Americans don't fall into this situation of high unemployment again.

Andrew Hudson, creator and operator of popular Denver job listings website Andrewhudsonjobslist.com, told CBS4 he's not so optimistic about a quick reversal in the nation's unemployment numbers.

"I'm skeptical in a sense that I see what's going on the front lines of the people who are looking for a job right now," he said. "It took a very long time for us to get into this situation and it's not going to be resolved overnight either."
