DENVER (CBS4) – Murder charges have been filed against the prime suspect in the murder of Kenia Monge.
A coroner confirmed Thursday afternoon that the body found near Keenesburg on Wednesday is that of Monge, the 19-year-old Aurora woman who disappeared April 1.
Friends reported Monge missing after she left the 24K Lounge in downtown Denver. She left her belongings behind.
The suspect, Travis Forbes, says he gave her a ride that night.
The Denver District Attorney’s office filed one charge of first degree murder against Forbes Thursday afternoon. An arrest affidavit in the case is being sealed.
Forbes is being held in Fort Collins on charges of sexual assault and attempted murder in a separate case. On Wednesday he took police to a field in Weld County where they found the buried body.
