Murder Suspect Formally Charged In Motel Shooting Death

DENVER (CBS4)- The man suspected in connection with the shooting death at a motel last week has been formally charged. Scott Shorts has been charged with one count of first degree murder.

Police believe Shorts shot and killed Brandon Sigala when he, along with friends, tried to intervene in an apparent domestic dispute. Shorts allegedly killed Sigala as he was trying to stop Shorts from assaulting a woman.

Shorts remains in custody in the Denver Detention Center where he is being held without bond. He is scheduled to appear in court tomorrow to be formally advised of the charge.
