Man Who Shot, Killed Bear In Estes Park Cabin Justified
ESTES PARK, Colo. (AP) - Wildlife officials say a man who shot and killed a bear that was eating out of his cabin's refrigerator was justified in his actions and won't face charges.
Colorado Division of Parks and Wildlife spokeswoman Jennifer Churchill told The Denver Post Tuesday that the man returned to his cabin in Estes Park Thursday night with his wife and son and saw the bear. Churchill says the man shot at the bear when it began to aggressively approach his family and then shot at the animal again when the animal continued toward the family.
The man's name is not being released. Churchill says he was apologetic and concerned about the bear's death.
