Longmont Pot Shops Closed After Legal Battle

LONGMONT, Colo. (AP) - Marijuana businesses in Longmont are closed after a judge sided with the city in a long legal battle to shut down dispensaries and growing operations.

Boulder County District Court Judge Ingrid Bakke decided Friday not to block Longmont from enforcing its ban on medical marijuana businesses. The city banned dispensaries in May, and the dispensaries tried unsuccessfully to force a ballot question on the matter. Bakke issued a restraining order against the city earlier this month.

Three dispensaries asked Bakke to issue an injunction to keep their doors open. The judge told the dispensaries she sympathized with their business plight but said they are "victims of developing law" and that the city must be allowed to enforce its ban.
