COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) – Police in Colorado Springs are searching for a man who opened fire on a Good Samaritan and her children.
The mother was driving her children to day care when she stopped at red light and a woman came up to her car screaming for help. She told the woman she’d been beaten by her ex-boyfriend and that she was afraid he would kill her. The suspect then drove up and fired shots at the SUV.
The woman, who didn’t want to be identified, did they only thing she could to protect her family — she ran the red light.
“He just started shooting and I heard the back glass break and that’s where my son was sitting — my 5-year-old son — I was afraid to turn around,” the woman said.
Police are searching for Corey Handy. Anyone with information on Handy’s whereabouts is asked to call Colorado Springs police.
