State Troopers Target Aggressive Drivers From Semi Cab

DENVER (CBS4)- Aggressive drivers are being caught and ticketed this week by Colorado State Troopers who are tracking traffic from an unusual place- the cab of a semi.

Sgt. Rocco Domenico remains hidden from view while riding in the cab of a commercial 18-wheeler.

Using a stop watch, he marks drivers who are violating a safe trailing distance of two seconds behind the semi. That's when marked units move in and ticket the driver for following too closely.

A ticket can cost $113.

"It takes 1.25 seconds for a car, for a person to react for their tires even to start to lock up and skid. It takes 1.25 seconds," said State Trooper Sgt. Rocco Domenico.

The campaign across Colorado is called TACT, Ticketing Aggressive Cars and Trucks. The campaign runs through October.
