Mother Of 5 Was Missing For Days Before Her Body Was Found

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4)- The family of an Aurora woman who was found dead in her car told CBS4 that she had been missing for several days before her body was found.

Cristy Erickson, 36, was discovered on Aug. 10 in the cargo area of her Lexus SUV, which was parked in the 4900 block of S. Elkhart Way in Aurora.

Police in Aurora are calling Erickson's death suspicious, but they haven't named any suspects or revealed a cause of death.

Erickson was a mother of five who gave birth to twins just a few months ago.

Erickson's sister told CBS4 she fears that someone is responsible for her death and that it may have been someone Erickson knew and trusted.

"She was a wonderful mom, had newborn babies and this is just something that we just can't believe has happened," Charlene Pallares told CBS4. "I don't have words for it. I don't have any words, I can't tell you. I don't know, it's terrible."

Erickson had been missing for four days when her body was found. She was last seen leaving a relative's home and was possibly headed to a party.

"She met up with a couple of people that were acquaintances of hers and that's where it just goes cold. Nobody is saying anything," said Pallares.

Pallares and Erickson's other siblings are convinced that Erickson was killed by someone she knew.

"I cannot believe this happened to her. I just want her children to know that she loved them very much and she was on her way home," said Pallares.

Pallares is offering a $10,000 reward, hoping it will encourage someone to speak up.

"This isn't a girl found abandoned in an SUV, this is Cristy, the same Cristy you know and you need to come forward and do the right thing. You need to help us find out what happened to her," said Pallares.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call MCU Detective Gretchen Fronapfel at (303) 739-6013.

Callers who would like to remain anonymous you can call metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP (7867) or text tips to: 274637 (CRIMES). The title of the text message should be DMCS.
