Neighbors React To Discovery Of Body In SUV

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) - Police in Aurora are investigating the suspicious death of a woman whose body was found in an SUV early Wednesday morning.

"It's creepy. I don't know other than that it makes you feel uneasy," said neighbor Robert Watkins.

Sgt. Cassidee Carlson with Aurora police said around 4 a.m. an officer on an unrelated call saw a suspicious vehicle, a Lexus SUV, in the 4900 block of South Elkhart Way.

"After further investigation the officer discovered the body of the victim. The vehicle is not believed to belong in that neighborhood and neighbors reported seeing the vehicle there as early as Saturday," Carlson said in a statement. "Due to heavy tint on the windows the inside of the vehicle was not easily visible."

"It's been there for a while. Every time we drove by, we said, 'Whose is it? Why is it there?'" said neighbor Binny Dhanoa. "The car did look suspicious. It was parked and isolated on the side of the street with some dirty windows, but I thought it might be some guests visiting there."

Aurora police's Major Crime Unit took over the investigation. The vehicle was towed away to search for evidence once officers can obtain a search warrant.

"It had a window visor in the front window. I figured a neighbor or a visitor had parked it over here," said neighbor Ken Anderson. "But my little sister was walking with her friends and said the windows were steamed up yesterday. I was a little weird about that."

Detectives have been interviewing friends and family of the victim, whose identification hasn't been released.
