Murder-Suicide Suspected In Longmont Deaths

LONGMONT, Colo. (CBS4/AP) - Police in Longmont suspect that a 38-year-old father killed his 3-year-old daughter before killing himself.

The bodies of the girl and her father were found in the bedroom of the man's home in the 1200 block on Red Mountain Drive on Sunday after his estranged wife showed up and no one answered the door. Police commander Jeff Satur said the man was taking care of the child for the weekend.

He told the Longmont Times-Call that police found a note inside the home but declined to provide details about what it said. Satur said the scene was very disturbing.

"Especially for our officers, detectives, we all have children and you just hate to see a child's life taken like this," Satur said. "There are no words to describe it and no reasons to ever justify it."

Authorities haven't released the names of the man or his daughter but there are reports the man was recently separated from his wife.

Autopsies are scheduled Tuesday.
