Trainer Accused Of Abusing Dog Appears In Court
FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) - A Loveland dog trainer has had his first court appearance after he was charged with aggravated cruelty to animals.
Ryan Matthews was advised of his rights and ordered to return to court on Friday. He could face up to 18 months in prison and a $100,000 fine.
A witness said Matthews slammed the dog's muzzled nose into a wall, causing a hole and leaving blood on the carpet.
Matthews appeared for a short time in court Tuesday for an advisement hearing and would not comment on the case.
