Paid Sick Days Initiative Makes November Ballot
DENVER (CBS4) - Denver voters will decide if businesses should be required to give employees paid sick days.
Supporters of the plan collected enough signatures to put the initiative on the November ballot. They say people who work in the food industry would benefit most. Those workers could take time off instead of being faced with the tough choice of working sick, or taking a day off without pay.
"This is exactly the thing we need to insure that workers have secure jobs and aren't losing their job just because they or a family member is sick," Erin Bennett with 9to5, National Association of Working Women said.
Some small businesses say being forced to pay sick days will be hard on their bottom line.
