John Denver Fan Wants Mountain Peak Named After Artist
LITTLETON, Colo. (CBS4)- The petition to have a mountain peak renamed after John Denver has been submitted.
J.P. McDaniel of Littleton is heading a campaign to have the eastern peak of Mount Sopris named after the late singer.
She's turned in a petition containing 2,800 signatures to the U.S. Board of Geographical Names.
"Many people remember John Denver, know John Denver from his music, which is wonderful. But to me his greatest contributions have been his environmental work," said McDaniel.
Denver was killed when the plane he was flying crashed off the coast of California.
