More Power To DIA From The Sun
DENVER (CBS4)- More of Denver International Airport will now be powered by the sun.
Denver Mayor Michael Hancock joined Gov. John Hickenlooper and former Gov. Bill Ritter to dedicate a new 4.4 megawatt solar energy system.
It's the third array built by constellation energy on the DIA property. Power harnessed by the sun will be sent back to the airport.
DIA believes the system will prevent the release of more than 5,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide each year.
