Flags Lowered For 2 Days To Honor Colorado Soldiers
DENVER (AP) -- Flags on public buildings across Colorado are being flown at half-staff for two days to honor a pair of soldiers who died in Iraq.
Flags were lowered Thursday to honor Spc. Nathan Beyers, a 24-year-old originally from Littleton. He was injured when insurgents attacked his convoy with a homemade bomb and died earlier this month. He left behind a wife, Vanessa Beyers, and an eight-month-old daughter, who live in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
On Friday, flags will be lowered for Sgt. Mark Cofield of Colorado Springs. The 25-year-old died July 17 of injuries sustained in a non-combat related incident. A funeral will be held for him Friday at Fort Carson.
