Teller County Sheriff's Workers Allegedly Drunk, Kids Untended

FAIRPLAY, Colo. (AP) - Two Teller County sheriff's employees could face misdemeanor child abuse charges for allegedly getting drunk and leaving four children unsupervised.

The children were placed in the care of other adults and Kendal Klug and Joni Coleman were issued summonses on child-abuse charges.

The incident occurred early Saturday. Klug and Coleman work for Teller County but were arrested at a residence in adjacent Park County, west of Colorado Springs. No phone listing could be found for either.

A Park County news release said they were intoxicated when a deputy responded to a report of an unresponsive man.

Teller County authorities referred questions to Park County. Park County Sheriff Fred Wegner didn't immediately return an after-hours message.

Authorities didn't release the children's ages or specify their relationship to Klug or Coleman.
