Colorado WWII Veteran To Receive Purple Heart

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (AP) – A Colorado man who served in World War II is being presented with the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Prisoner of War Medal.

U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter of Colorado and the Colorado Army National Guard plan to present Russell Aulston with the awards Monday.

Perlmutter’s office says Aulston served in the U.S. Army from March of 1944 to November 1945, and he was with the 106th Infantry Division during the Battle of the Bulge in December 1944 when his unit was overrun and captured.
